Design and Memory: Our Intentions

Solskin Brask

"The mural maps the process of construction in erecting human-made structures. From the abstracted living trees, seen in the bottom right panels, we gain all our resources for survival and protection. Nature and the living world around us informs our proclivity to create. Then the visual elements in the mural remark on the passing of time, seen in the abstract shapes in the middle of the panels representing the sky and sun. The length of time and effort to create structures reminds us that skill and technique is a process built and solidified with time, and finally to the human mind(s), seen in the far left panels with the large red profile, this imagery represents the movement of creativity necessary to illuminating the ideas for construction and design."
