Music @ Squiggle Park

northbynightThe North End Business Association are partnering with Agricola Street Brasserie, Edna,The Nook, Glubes LoftsCouncillor Jennifer Watts, Atlantic Developments, The Marquee Ballroom Mattatall Signs, Field GuideFood WolfHalifax Pop ExplosionNorex and Ticket Pro to bring street music to the corner of Falkland and Gottingen Street!

We’re very excited about the buzz for the restaurants, cafes, music venues and businesses in the region – and we want to bring a great street atmosphere to match it.

On Wednesday & Friday evening from 5:30-7:30pm (weather permitting) starting up in July, local musicians will be playing for active commuters, dinner go-ers and local residents. The musicians will be playing at “Squiggle Park” – the south Falkland/Gottingen corner. Musicians will be from various backgrounds, styles and experience levels.

Come out to take in a tune or two, meet some of your neighbours and grab a bite on your way #northbynight. If you are a local musician and are interested in playing a gig, we may have a couple of open spots – email patty@gonorthhalifax.com.

Playing solo and with several groups featuring folk, blues, rock& roll, trad. fiddle music and Maritime songs. Some of the groups & artists he has performed with include: Fiddles & Feet; the Berry Hill Band; Garrett Mason; Barry Cooke; Laura Watson; Doris Mason; John Campbelljohn & Tim Bowers.

Willie Straton is not only a nice boy from Bedford. Willie Stratton is a howling, seething cyclone of god-fearing folk music. Lashing together three part harmonies, thundering war drums, and a whole lot of soul, Willie Stratton and his band are slightly less likely to make you feel OK than they are to kill your boredom absolutely stone cold dead.
